Title: F1 101
Post by: Nic-z on February 16, 2008, 08:18:16 PM
Okay I got my f1 in today, it has alot more hopups than I thought (since it was stock I guess anything was more than i thought) I test drove it on my track, and it pulls really bad to the right, I maxed out the controll setting, so i need to make the adjustmen on the board, only problem i can't get the dang body off! so whats the catch.

right above the rear suspension plate you can use a little screwdriver to get it off,  it's a little tricky the first time.   Make sure you only adjust a very little at a time.  Don't forget to center your controller befor you do it.

Also the helios has a sub:trim.  you use it first and then fine tune with the standard trim.

okay on the board the pot adjuster must be broke cuase it doesn't do anything, I used the sub trim to Right 50 and works fine, I will see when my two other F1's come in to decide how well it compares, but I will say for 100 bucks I got the carbon rear supsension, kysosho ball diff, alm knuckles alm toe bar, alm rims, bumper guard, and new tires. I'll say its a lot more than I expected for that.  And for the other fifty I got a nifty practice 01 car.

$100 is a great deal. I have a complaint though. IT LOOKS JUST LIKE MINE!! LOL!!!
I hope you get some different bodies with the other ones that you can race with so we can tell the difference. I guess for now I'll just have to look for the car out in front to see which one is mine.  ;)

I like that idea, that way you'll think you're driving your car when infact its mine....i set up my track saturday, so i am doubling up on practice time, your days are numbered Russ lol.  And yes I have two other bodies, but no promises if I choose another one, I really like this one lol.

well you both will be fighting with Chad for the top honors with the McLaren,   Unless I'm on my game,  then it's ferrari all the way.  ;D

I finally ordered my PN mount for my F1 along with a top shock...

I got the rear spring.    I still need the damper,  it was out of stock everywhere I looked.

They have them on ebay. Or I'll sell you mine.
I took my rear damper off. I just could not get it to work right with my motor mount. I think I just want the rear srping thing like yours. For now I'm just running the Atomic shock that came with my damper plate. I dont like it that well but I need it to because just the carbon rear plates alone wont hold the car up. Eventually I will upgrade my motor mount to the PN one. That is if I decide to keep the F1. I'm really frustrated with it right now.

Believe it or not... I got one of my boxes of RCP put together last night. WooHoo!! I set up a wide oval in my front room. LOL!! Anyway I ran my F1 on it because I had fixed some things and wanted to test. Anyway it seemed to be ok turning to the right or clockwise but would spin out easily to the left. I was going to try some shims between the side plates and the chassis to correct it. I presume its caused by tweek?.

I tried to fix the stutter in the steering. I took it all apart and cleaned the pot with motor spray and cleaned all the servo gears out. It works way better but there is still a slight stutter about 10% of what it was.

well Most Mini-z's have some shutter.     the spin outs sound like tweak, try the shims and see if that fixes it.

my king pins were the main culprit of my steering problem, its like 90% better I will try to get the rest of it out by tweaking the body next week, this weekend I am headed to vegas to try my formula boats in the pool!
