So i got my 01 today, everything is great however the motor pinion is not snug up to the spur gear? whats up with that? also the guy put two small magnets on the motor on oppisite ends, what for?

the magnets are for additional power,   they are Not allowed on our club.

the pinion should be slightly loose, not tight.

You want the spur gear and pinion mesh to be close but not too close as it will bind up and heat up your motor and wear the gears fast. The best mesh is just about tight but a little wiggle room in between. If you have the stock motor mount you can use pieces of paper or thin card stock to shim the motor for a good mesh. Some people set the gear mesh with a piece of paper or plastic in between the spur and pinion when the motor mount is adjustable. Brians right on the magnets. They make the motor stronger or torqueier if thats a word.

okay thanks for the tips on the pinion spacing, Brian helped me figure out that the guy put a kyosho diff from an 02 on the 01 plus the gt40 from an 02 on the 01 lol.  I'll get it fixed, I want to make it my nascar since, the on off switch need work I have to take it apart anyways I might as well convert it to the nascar length. Oh and the magnets...gone ;)
