Title: 2.4ghz MR-02 released soon.
Post by: briankstan on February 07, 2008, 02:12:36 PM
Has anyone been looking at these?

I'm going to get one at some time.  I'm sure I'll wait until the Module is available for my helios controller so I don't have to spend the $80 for their controller.

the bodies look awesome. I'll be getting them for my collection for sure.

before we allow the 2.4ghz chassis we will need to discuss if it will be allowed in the stock class or we want to create another class.   the reason for this is because the new boards have stacked 3010 fets.  so under current rules are not allowed.

not that my opinion is of too much value at the present time, however I will cast my vote in for creating a seperate class.  Not to limit it to just the 2.4ghz cars but more of a 'modified' class, in that respect it would allow more people to use exsisting cars or old cars and mod them to race in this class instead of forcing them (or in my case giving me a reason) to go out and buy another car.  In addition fi we opened the door to stacked fets in our current 'stock class' we find our selves trying to 'draw the line' on if stacked fets are allowed, then why not lithuims.etc. The simplier the better when dealing with stock class rules.  Again I a newbie so take it for what its worth. :-X

I was leaning toward a modified class for them,  but it would really depend on the interest.  As long as we have 3 or more people competing in the class we can add it.

I really like the Kenwood car. Just because I've always sold Kenwood stuff.
As for actually getting one I probably would if at least 3 others had them first. I hate the idea of buying a radio for $80 though. I guess I will have to invest in a Helios or something.

MO' MONEY, MO' MONEY, MO' MONEY!!!

It' will have to be awhile for me.  I plan on just getting one when the module is available for the Helios. (I think, May) I'm not paying the additional $80 for the transmitter, because I won't be using it.

wait for the pcb, small parts kit and modules...  i am willing to bet most won't run the lemans bodies due to the questiosn of what class do they fit in.  conversions are where the money will be at;)

i'll get my 1st chance to race my lemans this weekend.  if they pan out to be all that i hoped for, i'm moving all my cars except my hfay (for the time being) over to 2.4 just so i don't have to fiddle with xtals anymore.

as of right now, i'll have to follow ruf's directions for installing in an f1.  i'll wait for the official parts kits before i make the switch with any mr-015/02 and ma-010's

so as you all are aware the 2.4ghz cars are out.   I know that Nic has one,  I have a couple coming so we will be able to test them out and see how they compare to the other cars.

My feeling is that we will need to have a different way to regulate the rules, porbably by allowing any combination of ESC and then just controlling the motors.

the future of the Mini-Z is upon us.  the good thing about it is you won't have to worry about frequencies anymore. funny enough I just got all my cars on the same frequency.  :P

So the question is, when will we start racing the 2.4/ad/stacked fet boards? I am currently getting down to one of each car, and when finished I hope to have all my cars but one converted to 2.4 ghz, so a ballpark figure of when we will start racing them would be sweet, if its not for a while I can see how my one non-2.4 handles and if its still up to par can still come out and race, if not I guess I can just race for fun and not be counted till we allow em. I have 2 soon to be four 2.4 boards one for 02, AWD, OL, and F1, figured I dont' want to have any glitchin in any of my cars lol.

lets talk about it at the race on thursday.

I don't plan on using mine until I can get a module for the helios.  I don't really care for the KT-18 much.   it's weird that it only uses 4aaa batteries.

Well I will switch over to 2.4 this and next week, then I will just hang out till we get them integrated. I have strict orders from the wife I have to down size to one car per class so I want 2.4 if I can only have one of each.

we can talk about it on Thursday.  I know they won't be legal in HFAY until next season.    We will probably just add them to the list of available cars to run in our classes.  I just want to make sure everyone agrees with it.

I'll have my 2 cars at the race for everyone to try out.  are you planning on using the 2.4 in every chassis?  if so that might be something else that needs dicussed as well.

Will your cars and mine still work if I use the old technology? I probably won't buy the 2.4 for a while, so for now and for a long time after that I'm still with the old mini-z.
