Title: Enduro and F1 500
Post by: briankstan on April 01, 2008, 10:19:23 AM
I'd like to start a discusison about these races.  what is the concensus on them.   is this something that we want to setup and run outside?  or at the wharehouse?

for the Enduro I would like to set up a very large track. if at the wharehouse we are limited to a certain size, but we don't have to worry about weather or lighting.

for the F1 500 I'd like to go as big as possible with the track, maybe a tri-oval of some sorts using the 45's and corners.

let me know what you guys think.  Also do we want to run them on the same day?

Personally I would rather run these races two different days, but thats just me. Outside would be really hot for the endurance. The weather for the f1 MIGHT be better we'll just have to see, but I'm leaning toward outside races. Are you planning on running normal mini-zs on the f1 track as well as f1s?

I like the idea of both but I agree with Ryan seperate days would be ideal to devote time to just one or the other race that night, being outside takes advantage of the larger sweeter tracks.

gotta go with the outside races,,dont know if I agree on each race having its own day.  the endurance is only an hour , we usually race for 4 to 5 hours at the warehouse

Post by: briankstan on April 02, 2008, 08:49:21 AM
I'm with Luke,  the races will only be about an hour each.  We can easily fit them in the same night.

I like doing these outside as well  we can move it up if needed so it won't be to hot, but I like the idea of have the largest track posssible for these races.

an hour? well in that case yea both in one night, large tracks are cool if we can get the signal to reach that far, hope we can use the 2.4

Title: Re: Enduro and F1 500
Post by: CLODGUY on April 02, 2008, 10:25:16 PM
I seem to remember having a pretty big track last time,, and not having any signal issues.,,, as for time,, if we had the larger parts of the oval track set up ahead of time,, we could do a tear down and set-up in no time at all...

by the way,,, racing under the lights outside ROCKS!!!

Title: Re: Enduro and F1 500
Post by: briankstan on April 03, 2008, 11:34:52 AM
the last track was 27' x 37' and I didn't have any reception problems either.

Racing outside under the light is pretty fun as long as we have enought lights.  I think we have that covered  ;D

we can incorporate the oval along the outside of the track and then have an infield section that can be bi-passed for the F1 500.

Post by: Ryan on April 03, 2008, 09:11:53 PM
Personally I think we should have a pit area if possible, just a strip of track that is one foam mat wide. I think this would help to get out of the way when you want to change batteries or any other problems that you might have during these races. Are you also planning on having the f1 race be one hour?

Title: Re: Enduro and F1 500
Post by: briankstan on April 03, 2008, 11:42:45 PM
we could do that,  however on the large tracks it's not so busy as a small track.  on these large tracks lap times will be close to 20 seconds,   will be faster with the tri oval with the F1's.

Maybe we should do similar to the F1 setup when they race at the speedway,  it's 3/4 of a oval with a smaller infield.  that could be more fun in my opinion than a true oval or tri-oval.

we can incorporate a pit area if needed.

Are we allowed to have a Pit Crew for either race?

Title: Re: Enduro and F1 500
Post by: briankstan on April 07, 2008, 09:13:03 AM
Pit Crew?

You are the pit crew and driver, so I guess that's a yes.   usually all that is required is battery changes, unless something gets broken.

Title: Re: Enduro and F1 500
Post by: Russ on April 07, 2008, 09:46:09 AM
I mean can we have somebody there to change the batteries for us and possibly marshal the cars. Or is up to the drivers to do?

Title: Re: Enduro and F1 500
Post by: briankstan on April 07, 2008, 11:06:29 AM
Nobody has ever asked that before.   I don't have a problem with it.   if they are marshalling one car only I don't see that as fair, but if they want to marshall all cars and be your pit to change batteries,  I'm cool with that.

I'm thinking that we should keep it as it has always been. You change your own batteries so your effort and possible victory and skill is all you and not you and someone else.  We should be able to have both races and have plenty of light left over. Oh and yes you can all wake up and yes this is not a dream I left a message on the message board. LOL

holy crap was that the imfamous Chad? there and gone just like that. lol. Yeah I think doing your own pit work is fine, but if someone wants to do marshalling I think that would be fine.

hey,  you finally posted.   :o

honestly I don't think it's an advange to have someone change your batteries for you.

Welcome to the forum Chad!!! (http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj171/Bash_N_Thrash/worship.gif)

I dont know that I could even get somebody to pit my car or marshal it. I was just wondering in general. I didnt know how you had run the races in the past. I do think it would be potentially faster for someone to change you batteries, providing they can do it fast. But its really no big deal, I was just wondering.

Brian, do you still want ten dollars from participants so we can have trophies?

Title: Re: Enduro and F1 500
Post by: briankstan on June 12, 2008, 04:17:22 PM
yea,  why don't we do that,   I'll pick up trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for both races.

Title: Re: Enduro and F1 500

Do you have outlets available for battery charging other than on the speaker? because most likely I (and maybe others) will need a place to charge batteries.
Do most drivers change tires during the f1 and endurance race? If so I may need to do more shopping.
Plus, are you releasing a design of the layout we will be running for both races?

Title: Re: Enduro and F1 500
Post by: briankstan on June 12, 2008, 08:54:55 PM
there will be a outlets available for charging batteries,   we will also need to have light up as well.

you can change you tires but I doubt you will need to,  typically it just a matter of 1 or 2 battery changes and alot of concentration.   :o ;D

I'll try and get a layout drawn up and posted.   I might need to swing by before the race and pic up the track that is at the warehouse, as I don't have enough at home for what we entend to setup .

I'll post the track pic when I get it drawn up.

So when you say we run the normal rules does that means we don't have to all run the same motor? Can we can run other motors rather than just the hfay season 6?

yes,  you can run any of the normal motors that are allowed, including the HFAY Season 5 & 6 motors.
