Title: Dischargers
Post by: Russ on January 31, 2008, 01:14:51 PM
I think I need a discharger. Everytime we race my batteries are left with 1/2 to 3/4 capacity. I think it would be a good idea to discharge them before recharging them. What do you guys think of the Atomic Ver II Discharger (http://"http://cgi.ebay.com/KYOSHO-MINI-Z-AWD-AAA-Battery-Discharger-Ver-II_W0QQitemZ310003763902QQihZ021QQcategoryZ44028QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQtrksidZp1638.m118.l1247QQcmdZViewItem")? I would probably get the Atomic Ver II Charging Rack (http://"http://cgi.ebay.com/ATOMIC-KYOSHO-MINI-Z-AAA-Battery-Charging-Rack-II_W0QQitemZ310018926816QQihZ021QQcategoryZ44028QQtcZphotoQQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem") while I was at it. Any comments?

I think I might give the Atomics a try. I can get both for about $35 shipped.

I'm getting an atomic charger in the mail. let me know how you like the discharger ifyou get it.  Also whats the advantages of discharging them before a cycle?

Discharging reduces the chance of them developing a "memory" and taking less of a charge as they get older. Also discharging can "equalize" or "balance" the voltage in the cells so they are all the same before charging.

Nic,  if it's the lacrosse charger, it has a discharge feature on it.   Basically when you cycle the batteries, it discharges them and then charges them.

Yes and no, I have only the charger.... in the picture you posted just like it, but no actual power suplly to go with. so I don't know how valuable that is or if thats how they sell them, it comes in its own little box but I don't have the discharger.
