Ball Diffs are adjustable and so you can tune the rear end of your car.   you can set it so it acts similar to a slipper clutch on larger scale RC's.   if you are runing a Modified motor or just looking for a little more fine tuning, this is for you.

The Spur Gears on the Ball Diff is replaceable along with the balls, and presure plates.  the diff can be completely re-built.
